Initial research - CYBORGS

Initial searching of cyborgs brought up many images, I found some modern, digital interpretations of celebrities as cyborgs on a blogsite.

I like how the technical advances applied to each celebrity differ and seem to have a relationship to their trade, i;e music artists have appropriate technologies applied.

A cyborg is a being with both biological and artificial (e.g. electronic, mechanical or robotic) parts. The term was coined in 1960 when Manfred Clynes and Nathan S. Kline used it in an article about the advantages of self-regulating human-machine systems in outer space. D. S. Halacy's Cyborg: Evolution of the Superman in 1965 featured an introduction which spoke of a "new frontier" that was "not merely space, but more profoundly the relationship between 'inner space' to 'outer space' – a bridge...between mind and matter."

New assignment - Overview

Today we received out new assignment brief - There's a lot to think about and many avenues to explore.

Final Outcome - produce 420mm x 297mm

Undertake journey and develop via research - illustrate R+D on blog/visual diary

Demonstrate ability to critically evaluate.

Utilise analytical skills and creative thinking

Attend weekly sessions to demonstrate process and to help develop ideas and progress throughout

Time Schedule - 6 week assignment (deadline = Mon 12th March 2012 @ 10:00am - HT017) Final print will be mounted and hung. ALSO required - A4 printout of rationelle

Rationelle:

- talk about the project and what i have done

- what does the work communicate?

- what is my critique of the work?

- what have i experienced during completion of the project?

Work MUST have a clear standpoint

Consider the audience of the work and select appropriate theme.
