Franz Kafka - The Metamorphosis

After reading the metamorphosis by Franz Kafka I looked into his life, only to realise that his fictional beetle could well have been a representation of himself, his relationship with his farther, his suspected eating disorder, he suffered from tuberculosis and "Schizoid personality disorder" are all reflected in 'Gregor' his fictional character. There is a feeling of religion in the text which I get from the rotten apple and the description of starvation... The way in which Gregor's death is described in general seems to have a biblical reference? I noticed that with the transformation of Gregor in the text, his human like qualities also transform into that what we would expect of a bug, much unlike other transformation tales i have read/heard.

Schizoid personality disorder(SPD) is a personality disorder characterized by a lack of interest in social relationships, a tendency towards a solitary lifestyle, secretiveness, emotional coldness, and sometimes (sexual) apathy. They may also demonstrate a simultaneous rich, elaborate, and exclusively internal fantasy world, although this is often more suggestive of schizotypal personality disorder. SPD is not the same as schizophrenia, although they share some similar characteristics such as detachment or blunted affect; there is increased prevalence of the disorder in families with schizophrenia.
