It was thought by many that technology could develop mankind and change the world of science and industry.
His work was inspired by the surrealists and the dadaists, exploring ideas of the human body having machine like operations. His illustrations often revealed inner workings of the human body as machinery - standing as a metaphor of the then modern industrial life,
